Big Boi is the other half of successful hip hop duo Outkast, also he's a producer, actor and he works with his own thing.

This LP took years to finally get released, after legal dispute, a lot of producers and years on making (since 2007) finally the album debuted number 3 on Billboard and it has been one of the biggest hip hop records of the year, not only because of the anticipation and the fact that everything that Big Boi or Andre 3000 touch turns to gold, but because this guy really knows what he does when it comes to creating beats.

After listening to this LP I can say that Andre 3000 is as great or maybe less great than Big Boi, and this is his shout to declare his supremacy, if Outkast explored old funky 70's sounds, this LP moves a decade forward with an 80's synth-funk going on that is really refreshing.

Big Boi is using all the instruments and electronic stuff that everyone else is using, but he's not committed to the way things are, so he takes his own vision of the beats and how to use them, so this is a Big Boi version on what is today's trend, and this creates a new trend.

The collaborations here are impressive like any other heavy weight hip hop record, it has everything that anyone can expect and goes a little bit further not compromising with the traditional way of making a hip hop album and also not trying to complain about it. Pitchfork said "Sir Lucious Left Foot is an album blissfully free of both old-man hectoring and drug-rap nihilism", and it's fun to see this refreshing view of hip hop being popular.

Das Racist - Sit Down, Man (2010)

Oh, man! These guys are tight! Where to begin?

Well, Das Racist is an "Art Rap/Freak Folk/World Music/Hare Krishna Hardcore" duo based in Brooklyn and they might look like the average unknown rap ensemble but brother...you're mistaken. Like Pitchfork very well said reviewing their first mixtape "Shut Up, Dude", they said it was "a fascinating album that attempts to write an impossibly new blueprint for rap: funny without trying to impress; proficient without having anything to prove; relevant without taking any particular scene seriously; imbued with a soulful sense of place—urban, disaffected, ethnic—but more interested in how that serves as fodder for jokes than in any big grab for meaning". Add to this review some fuzz in big news papers and magazines (The Guardian, The New Yorker, Spin Magazine, The New York Times), everyone saying something about this college guys.

For the second LP (Sit Down, Man), the collaborators and producers that wanted in were just impressive, being this guys a "funny/serious rap" group, having heavy weights in the business like Quincy Jones, Jay-Z or El-P wanting in was not everything, they also featured songs with Chairlift, had produced songs by Diplo and a remix by The Very Best. Talk about serious!

The result is very tight rimes, amazing beats and a very ethnical mix of all over the world rap, hip hop, merengue, you name it, and these guys are really the future in music fusion and making fun of serious stuff without saying really anything seriously.

I say amazing and give two thumbs up!
